This year’s NPPG Conference focuses on the practicalities of drug administration

This years NPPG (Neonatal and Paediatric Pharmacists Group) conference is taking place in Nottingham from the 3rd - 5th November. The annual conference is a great opportunity for UL Medicines to catch up with customers and discuss current industry topics.

The conference holds several educational sessions that take a closer look at various neonatal and paediatric issues. One of this year’s sessions will look at the practicalities of drug administration in infants and children. As specials manufacturers this subject is always at the forefront of our and our customers’ minds. A survey by Healthy Women in partnership with McNeil Consumer Healthcare, found that only 43% of parents/ guardians surveyed read the entire patient information leaflet given with their child's medication. Furthermore, when it comes to dosage 40% of parents/guardians either look up dosing information online or guess the correct dose1.  As UL Medicines provide a wide range of special medications to children and infants we champion the importance of medicine administration safety. We will be available throughout the conference  to offer advice to our customers on how best to communicate this key issue.

As well as providing a chance to discuss hot topics and catch up with customers, the conference gives us the opportunity to showcase our services. We supply over 8,000 bespoke specials, more than 40 batch-made specials with extended shelf lives and CoAs, as well as over 500 imported, unlicensed medicines, which is backed by an expert over-labelling service. We also offer free next-day delivery to UK hospitals* meaning we can remove the hassle of sourcing from multiple suppliers.

In addition to answering product and services queries we will be demonstrating how to get the most from the UL Medicines website. Accessible 24/7, the website provides the functionality to search for products, generate quotations, download documentation and view past orders with a few simple clicks.

We hope everyone who can attend the conference has a chance to. If you can’t make the event and want to understand more about how our services can support your hospital pharmacy, please call +44 01923 432 688 or email
